OUR STORY

Sparrow's Beach was a beloved beach owned by Mrs. Florence Sparrow in Annapolis, Maryland, from the 1930s until the property was sold in 1975. During segregation, it was a place where Black families came together to enjoy to create memories, and have fun in the sun. It was a place for families, churches and for people to come together to enjoy the beach, rides and see local and famous entertainers.

Although the beach closed around 1968 as integration changed the times, Sparrow’s Beach was eventually sold in 1975. The county also acquired approximately 45 acres of the property from Mrs. Sparrow.  

Our store allows you to celebrate Sparrow’s Beach history through unique products while helping us share our family’s story and preserve its legacy for future generations.
